Have you ever pictured yourself floating in the sky above Del Mar experiencing the most beautiful sunset? Well, here's your chance. Take a Hot Air Balloon Sunset ride and see what you've been missing.
We started our journey late in the afternoon in Del Mar. We rode in a van to a huge empty field where the hot air balloons were being launched. This is where the balloon masters test the wind velocity to see which way the wind is blowing. (Very important!) We were lucky, all systems were GO!
As we watched them fill up our balloon with gigantic fans, we were amazed at the process. With the balloon attached, they tip the basket on its side. When the balloon is completely filled with air, the burners are turned on to heat the air in the balloon; the balloon automatically lifts the basket upright.
After our group of 16 people jumped in, including our pilot, we lifted off. Even though there was a total of 2000 pounds being carried away, we were moving gracefully and smoothly. It was an incredible feeling of floating. There are baskets for smaller groups as well, such as for four people, six, etc. The balloon company also has a "romantic ride" for two people. Remember though, you are never totally alone.....the pilot is constantly maneuvering the stick and dispensing the proper amount of heat.
The views were amazing. Del Mar has multi-million dollar homes that appeared huge from any vantage point. There are a lot of homes with custom pools and tennis courts. Del Mar is such a beautiful community.
After we reached a height of around 6,000 feet, we just floated effortlessly through the sky. We could see all of Del Mar, including the Pacific Ocean. In fact, it was such a miraculously clear evening (lucky us!), we could see south all the way into Mexico and as far north as Long Beach.
After about an hour, we touched down miles away from our launch site, another seamless experience, into another empty field where the van was waiting to take us back to our starting point.
With spectacular views, a gorgeous sunset, effortless floating, a little champagne (or sparkling water), it was an incredible experience. It was our very first flight and it certainly won't be our last.

It all began in 1986 with a vision of building a community just south of San Diego in the City of Chula Vista that had everything a family would need or want. And after all these years, it’s still growing and still feels like new.
Whether you’re a young family buying your first home or whether you’re thinking of upgrading to your dream home, or it’s time to “retire” to a more peaceful, quiet life, Eastlake and all its separate communities seem to be the ideal place to live.
Take Eastlake Vistas, for instance. This was one of the last phases in the Master-Planned Community of Eastlake. This entire community has everything from business centers to parks to stores to schools to restaurants. It even has a cutting-edge, state- of-the-art-Mall called Otay Town Center Mall, conveniently located just off the 125 Expressway.
If you’re a resident of Eastlake Vistas, you’ll be able to take advantage and have hours of enjoyment at the Creekside Park. This three-acre private homeowner park is located adjacent to the Salt Creek corridor. It features a 5,000 square foot swimming pool, a 2,000 square foot attached children’s pool, along with a spa and restroom facilities. It also has an outdoor patio which is utilized for entertaining and barbequing. And if fishing is your sport, Creekside Park has a two-acre pond stocked with fish.
Eastlake Vistas is far enough from Downtown San Diego to feel separate from the city, yet close enough to be convenient. It’s just minutes from the 805 Freeway, Interstate 5 as well as the 125 Toll Road. Eastlake is not far from the Gaslamp District, the San Diego International Airport, or any of the beautiful Pacific Ocean beaches.
Eastlake Vistas, along with all the communities that comprise Eastlake, is a culmination of years and years of development and design. This country-like living has been ideal for the residents and their families.

Alpine is a quiet community located off Interstate 8 in the county of San Diego. Alpine is home to not only 15,000 people but hundreds of small firms, professional services and a variety of retail shops. Businesses are primarily located within the town center along Alpine Boulevard and Tavern Road. Also off the Tavern Road Exit on Interstate 8 are two shopping complexes, the Alpine Creek Shopping Center and the Country Side Center.
Alpine has an interesting history which dates back to the early 1800’s. The “story most known” is about wealthy importer Benjamin Arnold who moved to Alpine in 1887. Because of his asthma and seeking a cure for his chronic illness, his doctors suggested that he and his wife move to Alpine because of its “Perfect Climate.” The story states that while his health was improving, he was able to transform a stagecoach stop with thirty-five families into a permanent town. It was due to Arnold’s efforts to improve the rough roads that led to El Cajon and the trains to Lakeside.
In 1899, Arnold donated the land for the cemetery on Victoria Drive and built the Town Hall, which today is owned by the Alpine Woman's Club. After his death, his home became the Los Robles Hotel.
Presently,Alpine is the home of the Viejas Band of the Kumeyaay Indians and their Viejas Casino & Viejas Outlet Center. There you will find dining, a bowling alley, ice skating, miniature golf, fun zone and a wide variety of shops. Conveniently located off the Interstate 8 at the Willows Road Exit in Alpine, the Viejas Outlet Center has been national recognized for its design and landscaping.
The population of this small community has slowly grown through the years and people are lured to this rural community not only because of its climate, but also because of the picturesque foothills. Attractive homes and small ranches in rolling hills are found among the oaks, sycamores, eucalyptus and pepper trees.
Another attraction of living in Alpine is it has one of the lowest crime rates in all of San Diego County.
So don't waste another minute and come see all the Alpine Homes for Sale.
