BP's New RN Student!

Yes, yes, I "made it"!

Not in the way of getting my first property, BUT I'm in RN school! Today is the day I actually got in! Passed the entrance exams with a 92.5% and on the math section of the exams I got a 100%! Woot woot! (I still don't feel like I'm a smart individual though)

So... for me, what does this mean in terms of REI? Well, I'll become an RN in May of 2015, so income wise I'll still be relatively broke. I plan on not working and just drawing from my savings for a whole year... Which will probably be only around $3-4k for the year. I also plan on not working towards REI until I graduate now... So I'll be out for a little over a year.

Why do this? Well, take next semester. I'll be taking 16 credit hours worth of classes, which is more than full time. 12 credit hours is full time... Plus I'll be doing "clinicals" where I'll be actually volunteering (real volunteering, not "volunteering" like a fire fighter who actually gets paid...) at hospitals around my city! Mix this with the probable difficulty of these classes (which means more study time), then add clinicals, plus family and that equals a tight schedule. But! It is going to be sooo rewarding helping others! :D

After this though, I'll have an hourly income of around $26+/hr which will be almost unheard of in my family haha. I'll be able to save up soooo much money. So I'll be back at it REI wise. But I don't plan on stopping my schooling. After I graduate as an RN, it'll be another short 4 years to get my Masters as a Nurse Practitioner where I'll make around $86/hr which is multiples beyond what anyone makes in my family. But overall, REI is what I'm aiming for in the end. Becoming an RN and then a Nurse Practitioner, is just a way to guarantee my financial success. REI is the catalyst that give's me the potential to become... beyond financially successful.

Humans are amazing! And I'm going to be helping them for a living! And (at least in my city) all the showering, butt wiping, and thow-up cleaning is done by the assistants not the RN's! So, that's great haha.

I'm so excited,

Manuel

  1. Congratulations! An education is something no one can ever take from you, it sounds like you'll be a RN who truly cares about the patient!
