Week 18 of a Newbie Wholesaler Successes & Failures

As a full time investor every week is different. This week brought some successes and some failures, but my motto is “Enjoying the Journey”. I have to learn from my failures and have to maintain my drive during my successes.

I would like to elaborate about these successes and failures but first I wanted to talk to you about a few quotes from the late Dr. Miles Monroe that really inspired me this week. He stated the following:

“Vision/Purpose Brings Success”

“Your Decisions Will Determine Your Success”

These quotes really helped me this week when I had to face my failure. It’s very easy to make resolutions at the beginning of the year. Everyone is saying the same thing …Know what you want to see yourself accomplish this year and work towards that. Sure it is easy to say that but it is difficult when you have to be your own cheerleader and say your own Ra-Ras when facing adversity. During adversity is one of the hardest times in one’s life. During this time your atmosphere is either noisy and full of confusion or it’s eerily quiet as self-doubt tries to discourage you. I remember King David had to encourage himself (1Samuel 30:6) when things looked the bleakest.

These quotes helped me. Since I have a vision and know my purpose every decision that I make must line up with my purpose. I can face these failures with quiet excitement because I know that I am pushing myself towards the end result which is not a destination but “Enjoying MY Journey”.

Remember to continue to push yourself as long as you are faithful towards your purpose your failures will feed you.

I stated that in this blog I want to be completely transparent, and this means revealing my failures and successes. This week was a little of both. I successfully got 2 properties under contract but I failed at passing my Real Estate License test. I have read that high achievers will overlook their success and work to minimize as many failures as possible. So let us look at the failure: I bombed my test 57%, I couldn’t believe it but this really encouraged me. It taught me that I have a lot to learn about real estate (from an Agents perspective) so this means I have a lot more to absorb before I’m at my capacity. This informs me there is much more growth for me. Now since I have evaluated my current situation I know exactly what I need to do. It was not my intentions to get my license but a door opened for me, so I’ll walk in it.

As far as my success; I did say I was able to get 2 properties under contract; which our team is wholesaling one and will more than likely flip the other. I’m most happy about assisting one of our active duty military personnel. Sparing some of the details; there is a divorce involved, pending foreclosure, and the house has extensive damage. The most important piece in this puzzle was helping, because this situation involved military personnel this means the VA housing voucher is in jeopardy.

I knew going into the military deal that I was in a position of power. The house had quite a bit of equity, we had to move fast to beat the foreclosure, and the divorce was mutual and there would be no glitches when it came to agreeing upon terms and price. I did the right thing I took the situation into consideration. I knew we were in a good position and from vetting the call I had room to assist the family in getting back on their feet. It’s not always good to try and max out each deal. Remember we are doing this to not only be profitable but to help others as well.

To wrap up this week remember that every deal should be an opportunity for both parties to have a successful experience. We do not buy house alone but we assist in some of life’s negatives situations.

I welcome my failures they help me increase my capacity and my successes give me an opportunity to help.

Remember to “Enjoy the Journey”

I love how you began this journey with a favorite quote of the late Dr Miles Monroe.  If there is one story or person who can inspire it is him.  You put in perspective not passing the license exam and helping a military family  its all relative and I'm confident with your right attitude you will pass the test in the near future.  Keep on keeping on!
