Persistence is the name of the game

I'm sure it's been written about before. But it's something I've never experienced in real life to now. Watching my 4 month old try to roll over and get frustrated at her failure to do so is not only cute and humorous but inspirational as well. See she doesn't know yet that one day she will be able to do that, she doesn't know it's inevitable, all she knows is she wants to do it now and is struggling to do so. But as she struggles she doesn't quit. She keeps trying and trying and trying. persistence is the word. She hasn't been able to roll over fully yet this morning but that hasn't stopped her from pushing forward and only stopping when she becomes so frustrated that daddy has to step in and calm her down.

It's made me reevaluate things. How do we know what we are on the brink of completing? What if we are one final step or one movement of the arm that's in the way to completing our goal of rolling over? Just like my daughter, accomplishing your goal may be inevitable but you can't quit, you can't just roll onto you back and cry till daddy helps, you have to believe that you can move your arm and roll over.

I'm sure on this journey of fatherhood this is going to happen a lot and I can't wait to continue to see what true persistence looks like. I love that a 4 month old can teach me that persistence can trump talent and ability...

Cheers
