2014 Presents New trends in housing design!
Design today, whether it is in regards to fashion, art or even property; has stepped up to a whole new level. House designs are becoming less practical and more alternative and ambitious; with unique homes topping the market and buyers interest.
Some of the housing concepts are ambitious to the point of crazy; and one such house definitely deserves a mention as it will leave you shaking in your boots, especially if you are afraid of heights. This home is dubbed as the ‘Cliff House’ and the name truly describes it as it is designed to be perched upon the side of Victoria's infamous Great Ocean Road Cliffside giving 180 degrees of ocean views.
Although this beautiful home is just a concept created by ‘Modular Home Designs’ it gives a glimpse into the future of home designs and how functionality will be passed up for outlandish and adventurous homes.
The ‘Cliff House’ provided a look into the future of designs and the following two houses will display the current trending interest that alternative designed homes have with buyers.
The first of the two is the ‘Cloud Home’, this house is an addition and renovation to a double fronted Edwardian House in Fitzroy North. The cloud shaped extrusion at the back of the home is the main feature and is what gives this home its uniqueness.
This home is the Winner of the Melbourne Design Awards Architectural Residential Constructed category back in 2012 and then was shortlisted at the World Architecture Festival. This is completely understandable as the homes design in quite unique and dreamlike, due to the cloud shaped extension.
The owners of this property are a couple whom have two children which proves that the creative and unique designed homes are not confined to one demographic; families are embracing the creative rather than the practical.
The 2nd of the two will definitely be of interest to those who have always wanted to live in a castle as it is just that. This 3 bedroom property is designed to look like a modern day castle and is complete with conical rooftops.
Not only is the design alternative but the bright yellow colouring of the exterior adds to the out there nature of the home.
McGrath Castle Hill Agent, Elise Lau, described the property as ‘eccentric as it is substantial’. This seems to clearly describe exactly where housing design seems to be trending. Buyers are opting for the eccentric and unique homes that are exciting and interesting to the eyes, rather than the practical and basic.
Overall the design trend for future and current house designs can be described as alternative, creative, unique and eccentric. The days of bland and basic are gone and the future presents a world full of colourful castles, dreamlike shaped homes and daring Cliffside mansions.

I couldn't do the cliff one, I would be to scared it would fall in an earthquake. the other two on the ground look peaceful though.

haha that is true. Hopefully the infrastructure would be strong enough, but I see your concern. Thanks for commenting.

Thanks Chelsea! With improvements in prefabricated houses, epoxies, and 3-D printing, I bet cool designs are really going to explode.

Wow these are some nice looking designs. I wouldn't mind living in the cliff house. Go on my balcony with my fishing pole & fish away.
I would get me a water bed to match my view & sound. Lol
Do you pay any attention to some of the uniquely built underground style homes?

Thanks for the comments. That is a brilliant idea for balcony fishing.
I have seen some of the underground styled houses. I remember there was one particular house that was a 6 story mansion, but 5 stories were underground. It is beautiful.

This is where I saw images etc.
But they are all super beautiful. I am definitely going to go for more of a creative house than a practical one =)
