Today - the first Action Step

Today was my first Action Step.  Meaning, I went from thinking about, reading about, planning about, and imagining about Real Estate Investing, to actually taking the first action step.

Here's how it went down:

I've been looking at getting into real estate since moving to Utah this summer.  We were very successful in selling our home in Yorba Linda, California, and then rented here in Utah while deciding what our next steps were.  We ended up purchasing a FSBO in a great win-win situation.  Doing all of the due diligence started my wife and I on the realization that we do have enough knowledge to do more deals in real estate.  So I began the research process.  And the reading, and the thinking, and setting up spread sheets, and the defining criteria, and all of those background things that you only do for yourself.  Being a risk-adverse type of person, I wanted to have it all in place before taking action steps.

Tonight I was invited to a real-estate investment club to talk about success stories, meet people in the business, network with like-minded people, etc.   It turns out that it was actually a product pitch, selling real estate investment education.  Even better, it was multi-level marketing, where I could earn a wonderful income selling the program to my friends and neighbors.   That's not for me, but I came away with the resolve that if these yahooligans can do it, so can I.

So, got to take some action.  I was persuaded by my lovely wife to get off my duff and send that first email, expressing interest in purchasing a home from someone.  It was a reach out, first contact.  But it was a start.  That is why tonight is The First Action Step.

  1. Remember you must go thru some no's before you can get to the yes's, which has been my experience, but thought the no's you gain very valuable experience and you will find that those yes deals come easier due to your experience and knowledge of your area  but the yes's are gold so keep after the yes's, so don't slow your roll,  Happy hunting.... 2. great story. best of luck! let me know how that works out for you cause im still educating myself on it all, but eager to take my first step

    1. Thank you, James.  I finally decided I needed to start the blog as an accountability measure for myself.  If I'm documenting, and making my actions somewhat public, then I will be more motivated to be moving on items.  So I appreciate your comment.
