Feds Create New Way To Handle Failed Banks

Posted: Saturday, May 02 2009 at 12:03AM

I just finished a post about the new way the FDIC created to handled failed banks and lending institutions.  As of today with the failure of Silverton Bank, the FDIC opted to take receivership via a newly created "bridge bank".

Lying To Get a Mortgage Could Put You In Jail!

I just finished answering a question by one of our readers of the Mortgage Insider Website.  It was a great question about the ramifications of lying on a mortgage application.

I research the penalities and was shocked!  Civil and criminal penalities are the punishement if found guilty, but what really unnerved me was the "negligent" aspect of those who could be found guilty.

Can Mortgage Companies Make Money Without Charging Fees?

Posted: Thursday, April 23 2009 at 05:48PM

My partner wrote a post on our blog today about no points and no fees loans.  Can they make money without charging these fees?

That sounds silly just saying it but the ads are compelling.  Mortgage companies do not do loans for free…nothing in the mortgage business is free.  So, with that said, when you see an ad for no cost refi or no fees or points you aren’t getting something free.

It isn’t a better deal…just a different one.  She wrote about the difference between a no cost refi and a no points refi.

So check it out and also remember she gives you actual wholesale mortgage rates everyday in her real rates daily podcast.

Thanks!

I just finished a post on what his wife reported as the suicide of Freddie Mac CFO, David Kellerman.  I researched his work website and other online sources that could shed some understanding on this tragedy.  The nation's hearts go out to the family of Mr. Kellerman...another victim of the mortgage crisis.

I reviewed the national online mortgage lender, Amerisave Mortgage. The review outlines all the contact info I found as well as all the consumer complaints I found.

Amerisave's recruiting mechanism...smacks of Amyway...or some sort of MLM...more than a little concerning....
