The basics of customer reviews

Customer reviews are a vital part of how a business gauges what they are doing wrong and right. More importantly, good and honest reviews show other potential customers that you are a trustworthy company. Make no mistake, whether you flip houses, wholesale, or invest in rentals....you have customers and you need to get reviews from all of them.

Below are some quick basics of the ins and outs of customer reviews....

Why do you even need reviews?

This should be obvious but reviews whether you publish them or not can tell you what you are doing well and what you aren't. It's always helpful to get an outside perspective. When you get a glowing, 5-star review....you need to use that to it's fullest. Put it on your website, social media, maybe even direct mail pieces. Solid reviews are instant trust generators. Good reviews can attract better tenants, get you more deals, and help you outbid your competition.

How do you get reviews?

There are a few ways to get reviews from your customers. You can create a template, print it out on paper, and ask them to fill it out. You can create a landing page on your website where people can fill out some quick review questions online. If you want to go above and beyond, pull out your iPhone and grab a quick video review. You'll then have live video proof and can transcribe the video for use as text.

Who are my customers?

Every aspect of real estate investing has customers. Here are a few examples for flipping, wholesaling, and landlording:

  • Flipping - contractors, the people you buy the home from, the people you sell the home to, your real estate agent
  • Wholesaling - your buyers, sellers you work with, agents that represent buyers
  • Landlording - all of your tenants are customers, contractors, property managers

It is hard now a days to find a company that doesn't have good reviews. Google your favorite companies and you'll probably see reviews on their home page. If they sell products, every product will have ratings and reviews. There is a reason for this.

If you want to see how we use reviews in the real estate investing space, check out our website at W Properties. If you have questions about the why, what, who, where, or how....just private message me, Tyler Weinrich, on BP or comment on this blog post. Happy to help in any way I can.
