Specialties: Residential
Hi, I’m Kyle Spearin! I specialize in live-in flips and house hacking, and enjoy working with first-time homebuyers. I fell in love with real estate when I bought my first house and haven’t looked back since. At the time I was a history teacher on a budget, so I decided to buy a fixer-upper Chip and Joanna Gaines style. Over the course of two years I learned a lot of lessons as I renovated everything from the kitchen and flooring to landscaping. It wasn’t all unicorns and rainbows, though. There was a lot of stress and anxiety as I faced challenges that I felt ill-equipped to handle. No one ever told me what questions to ask a real estate agent, what lending options I had as a first-time buyer, how to stop my basement from flooding (that really happened), or much else for that matter. Two years and hundreds of lessons about homeownership later, the time came to sell my first house. Around this time, I decided to get my real estate license to learn more of the basics and so that I could confidently represent myself when I sold my house. My interest in real estate also led me to transition from teaching to developing content for real estate startups. I wanted to become more knowledgeable and apply my learnings the next time I bought a house. Fast forward to present, the knowledge base I gained from these experiences has helped my wife and I buy a condo where we live today with less stress. People say that experience is the best teacher, but who said it has to be your experience? My hope is that Homeowner School can help you avoid many of the mistakes that aspiring and new homeowners make by documenting the lessons I’ve learned, sharing homeowner stories, and talking to real estate professionals. That way, YOU feel prepared as you embark on your journey to homeownership.
