Hello Bigger Pockets Community,
I would greatly appreciate any feedbacvk or suggestions for my online home buying site, www.TheWiserHomeBuyer.com. Thank you very much! I really appreciate it.
I took a quick glance and have a couple comments:
1. Very professional looking. No obvious spelling or grammar errors which I often find in sites put up by individuals. There has obviously been a fair amount of detail and proofing on this site.
2. Layout is a little confusing. You have menus/links across the top, a 2nd set of menus/links down the left side, and a 3rd set of menus/links way down at the bottom. I'm not sure where to look for things.
3. There's too much dead space before reaching the bottom menus/links. I almost didn't find them which means I also almost didn't find out who you are and why this site exists (i.e. "About Us").
4. Even when I did find the "About Us" area, I still honestly am not quite sure why the site exists. Mostly I say that because as a site visitor, I want to know what's in it for you. Are you really just being benevolent and helping me, the random consumer with free information? Or are you looking for something in return - to be part of my real estate team perhaps?
These are just a few thoughts off the top of my head. Overall, one of the more professional sites I've seen if you can tighten up the content a bit. Good luck!
Thanks for the feedback Tom! My primary objective is to help homebuyers make a better decision when buying a home rather than rushing right into purchasing a home. I also wanted to use this site to show newer investors (whom I come across very often in my real estate dealings and almost always use Zillow.com's zEstimate for their negotiation) and relevant ads to see if this could actually generate some revenues along the way. Do you suggest I include this in the About Us section and have it on the top links to make it more visible?
By the way, I just moved my mother from Mountain View to Vegas. Mountain View is a definitely a great place! How's the market in that area (Santa Clara County?) Thanks again for the feedback!
Not bad. I don't know if you cleaned up any dead space since Tom had mentioned it but it didn't seem to bad concerning the dead space.
I think I would put the credit report affiliate banner above the ADT banner though.
I do like the left and right columns. I think you could squeeze the left columns closer a tad.
The more I look at it I'm starting to agree with Tom with the dead space, maybe squeeze everything up so there might not be a fold line? Sorry I'm typing this as I'm viewing your site.
I like the subtle use of affiliate links in your copy, they don't seem 'pitchy' at all. I'm actually surprised to not see more affiliate links as I think you could get away with it being as subtle about it as you are.
Did you create this yourself? what about the copy, did you do that as well?
I'm not impressed by the look of it, I don't have the 'wow' feeling when I open it up but I do like your copy and affiliate insertions.
