change percentage of ownership in an LLC

I am in the process of forming a LLC with a minority partner. we would like increase his percentage over time, based on a current valuation. my question/problem is that I would rather increase the capitalization of the LLC over me selling shares to him.

can someone help me with pros & cons of this approach?
