Hi-

I'm buying a tri-plex in KCMO. I will be living on the 1st floor and leasing the other 2 units. Do I need a business license to do this? I don't want to use a property management firm as I will be living there and my "partner" will be handling most repairs, maintenance, etc.

Please advise. :groovy:

I doubt you would need a business license. But call the city where the property is located and ask them. You do want to be sure you know and follow MO landlord/tenant law, and any local statutes that apply. Be sure you understand and follow fair housing laws.

I do recommend doing some reading in the rental property forum.

midtown, although I'm not sure this particular deal is going through. I need to work out a lot of details. That said. I will be buying a duplex or triplex w/ in the next 3 -6 months. again in midtown.
