Hello Biggerpocketers,
I have a quick question, since real estate agents control a big portion of the market. Are there any ways to work with Real Estate agents and put deals togather?
Any feedback would be very helpful.
Thanks A Bunch

Absolutely! However, keep in mind that the average agent knows little to nothing about real estate investing, they just know how to do transactions. Almost everyone of them will say that they work with investors, but they are clueless. On the other hand, if you are working with an agent that really knows, then his or her help can be priceless. Start by going to your local real estate investment club meetings and ask seasoned investors who they work with. Then meet with a few of those agents and get to know them.

Richard is right on. I'm an agent and a landlord, who is hands on. Besides running numbers on a property, I can tell how much work it needs and estimate how much it will cost and how long it will take to get the place rented. Working with someone who is in the business, you can gain valuable information.
Why dont you try finding an agent on this board who is in your area? I think you'll find most of the agents on here are also investors..
Hey Patrick,
I agree with David completely. I am a licensed salesperson with Royal LePage Atlantic and I own an investment and property management company as well.
Most agents will say they work with investors even if they don't have a clue how things are done (a good agent will refer you to someone who works with investors on a regular bases).
In every market there are agents that work primarily in investments (and some of them deal in commercial leasing as well). These people know what's happening, it's their niche market.
Find one of these people who you are comfortable with, they will be a huge resource. They can give you the advice you need, the protection you need, and will know about properties for sale that aren't actively on the market (that's right, exclusively for you!).
If you want help finding an agent that can help you out, I would be happy to refer you to an agent in your area. You can contact me at luther@hres.ca if you'd like.
Hope we have helped you clear things up a bit.
I know this is an old post. Hopefully, someone will answer.
I'm new and really don't get it: why would an agent who is also an investor will help another investor to get a deal. If the deal is good, why dont that agent just pursue it himself.
Like wholesale deal, if the agent find out that the seller is highly motivated and willing to take a very low price, that agent/investor will probably wholesale that himself. Why let other people know.?????
Perhaps because the agent doesn't have the financial resources, ability to borrow, etc. at that point in time to execute the deal Julie. We generally don't have this problem, but I could see it being an issue for agents looking at deals all day long.
