Should I get a broker license or just an agent license in California?
I'm not sure how CA works, but in most states you need to have a certain amount of experience as an agent before you can qualify to be a broker.
What's the advantage of the broker license over the sales agent?
It makes you look more knowledgeable. I'm surprised you don't need experience to acquire it. Here in Texas you need 2 years experience as an Agent before you can become a broker.
Michigan is even tighter than that...
3 years of agent experience, 90 course hours, 6 completed deals, and pass the state exam.
Albeit, I'm working toward becoming a broker. I'd be foolish not to.
The power to make dicisions is an advantage from my perspective. I negotiate directly with lenders myself. An agent cant make the dicision to let me do that with their listings, hence the broker has to ok it. This is why I dont deal with agents. I deal exclusively with the brokers.
