Does anyone care to hazard a guess about what the date is the BiggerPockets hits 100,000 site members? The site is closing in on 65,000 right now.

I am betting we can get there by the end of the year if everyone makes a concerted effort to invite just ONE of your best real estate buddies to join the site and makes them pledge to do the same. Some of our best posters are brand new and add a lot of great perspective and value to the site.

Yeah but how many of that 65,000 are active? Is there a way you can measure membership activity and find how many are really active?

There actually is. If you go to the "stats" page on the site, you can see the daily activity and who has been, and who is currently on the site. Typically, in one day, we get 1%-2% of the membership that shows active that day.

As stated before, we all need to encourage everyone to stay active and engage. That alone will strengthen our site. Adding new members and doing the same will make it even stronger.

We have made some recent and successful attempts to get members to interact here.
Now we need a motivation to invite others.

Reaching 100k posters would be good for everyone . . . more people to network and do business with, more people to learn from, and so on.

To answer all the above questions, I believe that people need to share what it is that that is so special about BP.

Here are some of the ways we'll get there:
- Inviting people to join and offering them a reason to do so is a good start . . .
- Telling members of your local REIA to get on board, is another great way to go. BP can help your REIA recruit, network, and more through our platform -- convincing the board members to get involved and to also share BP takes it to yet another level.
- You're all probably on Facebook - making sure you like BiggerPockets on Facebook will help get the word out somewhat, but what would be even better would be if you went to our invite link and invited your Friends on FB, Twitter, etc. to join you here. The link on the invite page will ensure that you get credit for bringing new people to the site; tell them why BP rocks and you'll certainly get new people over here!
- Do you know anyone at your local paper or in the press? Helping to get us a writeup would be extremely helpful and would likely aid in our quest for 100k.

I'm sure there are many other ways to go, but honestly, word of mouth is going to be what gets us up there. So, spread the word . . . .

AND thanks for the love - seriously, I really appreciate that we have members who care about this place almost as much as I do!

Good idea, but I think it is going to take a much sexier prize than a year of PRO to really motivate people who may not be completely vested to go hard-core on the invite front.

Why not have Will and Bryan come to your house for a year and mow your yard and wash your car :mrgreen:

Stan - Another interesting idea. That said, if BP had the budget to do that, we'd spend it in on advertising and marketing; we'd have reached 100k a long time ago. Almost our entire budget goes back into development of the site, with little remaining for something like that, unfortunately.

Why: Because this year is going to rock in real estate investing and people are going to start to want in again. Naturally as more people want to understand real estate they will look to social networks (another big change this year) and BP will see its members climb.

Look at a critical mass table and we will see "at some point" things accelerate with any good network or produce. Could BP be ready for the hyper growth and hit 100k. I think optimistically... YES.

Will had a nice feed on LinkedIn yesterday that I commented on. How do I get one of those to promote the site? I am guessing if everyone stuck that on their LI and FB pages we could get a whole bunch of folks very quickly.
