Fl Sec8 Heat Needed?

Question

Looking around in Fl this week while Im here and took a look at a few low income rentals. Some dont have heat. Since this will be a sec 8 rental will this be an issue? My rentals here in NY heat is required for obvious reasons.

Yes I have worked with HUD before and they do require you to have heat in South Florida. Aly is right in that it does get pretty cold here at times, no snow, but cold enough to need a heater.  For a section 8 rental you might want to look into just putting in a wall unit instead of equipping the whole unit with central AC.  They work well for the colder days and will satisfy HUD.

I have rentals in south Florida and it can definitely get cold enough to need heat, particularly this past winter. Nothing like the north of course.

Section 83.51(2)(a), F.S.
In addition to providing the above requirements, the landlord of a dwelling unit other than a single-family home or duplex shall, at all times of the tenancy, make reasonable provisions for:

Extermination of rats, mice, ants and wood destroying organisms and bed bugs.Locks and keys.Clean and safe conditions of common areas.Garbage removal and outside receptacles. Functioning facilities for heat during winter, running water and hot water.

I lived in Hawaii for 3 years and the houses did not have heat. I think it would depend on how cold it gets.
