Tattoos and appearance when meeting clients.

I have always heard that you "dress for success". In professional settings I normally try to dress just a little nicer then expected. I do have a forearm tattoo that I normally cover under a button up shirt when meeting with clients. In your experience do you think something like that matters? How do you normally dress when meeting a homeowner for the first time?

I normally go with nice jeans, clean car, nice watch, button up, and dress shoes. I've been in meetings where one guy is wearing a full suit when everyone else is casual.

I think that the general goal is to appear clean and professional without making your client self-conscious. Thoughts?
