Smartest Cook County Ordinance I've ever seen....

About time Cook County came up with a law that makes total sense. Not for public development or to de-escalate gange violence, but to help these kids realize what idiots they look like. Every time I see one of these kids I want to tell them, " You know the old guys that keep their belt line just below their nipples? You do look that stupid. It's just the other way."

Here in the south a fair number of plumbers would get fined. No wait! That's for showing three inches of _underwear_...... guess our plumbers are still safe.....

Yeah, that's a much older tradition. Has to be some grandfathering in place for that.

Tim, even though I am still a relatively young man, born and raised on the south side of Chicago during hip-hop's early years, I agree with this law. Its unfortunate however that it would take legal intervention to cause a person to adjust his or her fashion for the sake of common decency. Every older generation has found issue with the fads, fashion and musical choices of the youth, but this particular fad is somewhat obsene and offensive. I dont want my mom or granny standing behind someone in a line whose buns and briefs are openly displayed. This is one of those things where instead of encroaching on an individuals fashion, they are protecting thier citizens from what often amounts to indecent exposure.

This is AMERICA!!! You know..." Land of the Free" . I don't like the style of " saging" your pants, I think it is really stupid looking and silly. However, Would you agree with the law if it was the other way?
If the law was you must wear your pants at your waist, and not above your belly button. Would you agree with that?

I can't believe I live in a country where the government tells me how to wear my clothes. I understand that laws are to protect the people, but this is rediculous.
These laws are taking away our FREEDOM. You might not agree with the style, but you must see that this law is not protecting anyone. Most of the kids wear Basketball shorts under their jeans when they " sag" thier pants, will this be illegal too?

It is not about indecent exposure, because a Guy can walk down the street wearing a speedo, and it is not against the law. What would you rather see...a skinny, bright, white, old dude in a speedo or a kid with his belt line a little below the traditional standard of where it should be?

The correct answer is...neither! You would rather see neither, but the law should never have anything to do with it.

We all know we aren't as free as we think. We never were, and have never been. We will always be governed. Whether it be by your god, by state, or by our own minds.

Freedom exists only in our own capacity. Finding external " freedom" does not exist, imo.

As much as it probably brings down the neighborhood, it is kind of useless to try to impose this.

Think of how much money this law has cost the county tax-payers in discussions, board meetings, approvals, informing the citizens, enforcing and collecting the fines. I bet, when it's all said and one, it would equal about $400 per sagging pair of pants in the county.

We have had that law here in Shreveport and Bossier City for quite a while. The dumb ass kids and many adults needed a reminder to dress appropriately in public.
