Talk about disparity in incomes . . . CNBC just reported that the median income for men is $45,113 and $35,102 for women.

The Gender gap is still here and is W I D E!

Yeah every time I see numbers like that I want to see the report of the disparity costs of romantic relationships for men compared to women. We may make more but we sure as heck don't get to keep more....lol

Also reminds me of a discussion I had with a few other guy investors. We discovered that a much quicker way to exit the rat race was to add an IPW to our portfolio. That's an "income producing wife". Needless to say, there were no ladies at that particular discussion.

Did that study say if that gap was because women are paid less for the same job, or because a woman's career is interrupted by time off for family reasons / after having a baby?

Bravo on noting the one major flaw of this study that has yet to be rectified since I first heard it 10 years ago. The last I checked, the numbers when calculated showed women's income increasing on average by 1.25-2% per year. That's lower than C.O.L.A. and made me very dubious of the study.

I posed this same question to a professor while in college and was labelled a "sexist" for it. Clearly she did not know me as there were much better comments to label me a sexist on.

Whatever your views, the end lesson here is to never rely on an employer for your income. A good rental property will cashflow as equally for a woman as it will a man.

I have multiple income streams. One of which is my Husband. He produces some nice CF!!!

Seriously, I left the health care field in 2006 (was a critical care nurse for 20 years) and found that male nurses who wanted to climb the ladder into management did so at a greater pace than their female counter parts. Hmmmm......

About 15 years ago when I was discussing a salary disparity between a woman and man co worker, the other person (who was a Woman) said "but he is the bread winner for his family". Yeah, like I care or like I work any less than he did.

Just one Woman's observation.
