What does everyone think about Google's street views? Do you guys use that feature on Google maps in your research?

Do you think it is invasive or goes too far?

I find it to be absolutely fabulous. My work takes me to many cities and those who have been mapped in street view are so much easier for me to traverse.

I like Street View. Especially when you are trying to tell someone where to go, you can give them the sights, as to what is on an intersection when they have to turn.

Yes I can see into my deck from there, but hey, you can do it if you just walk by anyway.

One of the upsides to zillow is that it will get you to an exact address. The valuations are all over the place, but the addresses seem to consistently be correct.

Hi Joshua,
Good question for a debate.
With the new age of digital and all of its capabilities, a new precedence in law on public domain and privacy issues will eventually be addressed. Do the pros outweigh the cons? Each to his own decision. Professionally, I embrace the pros; however, on a personal note, I am a private person who views that the cons issue is borderline.

I too love it. I use it with trulia and zillow and realty trac. Realty trac shows alot of "OLDER" foreclosures but no address and since you have to pay for their services, I can get around that by using google street view to scope out the property. Plus it is great to go along with the pictures i put up of a property on my website. I'm using Iweb on a mac and i am not sure if other services that allow you to do this. Plus as long as they keep the faces blotted out i think it's perfectly safe. Now what i would love to hear is some opinions on Homeland security who has the authorization to enter someones home and take them away with no questions asked for interrogation purposes. I know it is to keep us safe but if this power got into the wrong hands could be used in a bad way against the American people, but this is another topic in itself and might get a little heated. So jon or joshua if you need to edit that last part please do so as i love bigger pockets and do not want to get banned over an opinion of mine.

I think it is great. It shows nothing that I can't see just driving by. Just wish it would get my particular area in the database.

Check out http://www.mapjack.com. Not much data yet, but much clearer than google street view. IMHO, this will really take off when you make it into something like youtube or shutterfly and let folks add their own data.
