Do you think that the Democratic control of Congress and Barack Obama will help the housing crisis?

Real Estate Consultant

No.

Real Estate Investor · marathon, Ohio

No, because they keep repeating the same mistakes, regardless of the party majority.

Real Estate Consultant

I concur Jeff.

Spending money that you don't have is not a long term solution to anything but winning political races.

That goes for Dems and Repubs.

I hope not. I could use another 4 years of this.

Real Estate Investor · Bartlett, IL

Nope. as I said on another post:

I am torn. On the one hand i have a guy that will be better for the country and on the other I have a guy that will inadvertently be better for my business.

The guy that would be better for MY business won. I expect prices to come further down and better cashflow will be had.

Heck no! This is a systemic failure. The market is out of balance and it will take time to get back to equilibrium.

Yeah, the bad economy is very good the foreclosure business obviously. We'll have to see how Barack's plans pan out. I think we can all agree that the economy won't fix itself overnight.

As I learned as a Boy Scout 45 years ago, BE PREPARED. These are uncharted rivers we're going down. Time to be extra cautious, imo. I've seen some slow down in my area, and for the 2nd year in a row, Its' the #1 projected city for appreciation. Easy to buy, easy to sell, nearly impossible to get buyer financed. Food, water, cash reserve, gold, silver and no installment debt is the only safe solution for now

You guys all say no and you could use the times as they are now for the business (which I totally understand why).

But, my question to all the full time investors is how long do you think this housing market will stay this bad? Essentially, I'm asking how long do you think people can thrive off sub-to's and the like?

I know this is very hard to predict just interested on what you guys see.

I estimate that "bad" housing market will last between 10 to 15 years.

Check housing market history (via google) and you'll see why I predict long term lousy housing market.

History is repeating itself. 1976, we elected a Democratic President and the economy got worse.

Carter was about "HOPE", Obama - "Change".

Clinton had a republican congress handed to him in 1994 I believe which is when the small recession of the early 90's ended.

So here is my Prediction. the economy will get worse, the Republicans will hammer the Democrats every chance they will get, because after all it is Politics. Then what will happen is that in 2010, we will see Democrats start to lose power in Congress.

If we raise taxes on Business, all a business will do is: fold, file bankruptcy, raise prices, or layoff more workers.

NONE of these are good for the economy. So why raise taxes on the rich? Why share wealth?

Why not reward those that have been successful? Show those that mooch on the system that it pays to get off your lazy A** and do something.

My $.02 worth. I welcome debate on this topic.

The Democrats believe in controlling votes. It has nothing to do with what is right or wrong - good for the country or bad etc. it IS all about how do we get them to vote for us again and again.

They choose to create indentured servants whose votes have been bought one way or another. For example thru WIC or food stamps or unions or welfare or unemployment or social security or healthcare etc. They are the party of handouts. Those who like handouts will hand back their personal vote.

Controlling votes is done independently of party. The democrats do it through the methods "WIC or food stamps or unions or welfare or unemployment or social security or healthcare etc", And the republicans (and some democrats)control votes by promising no taxes, then taxing us indirectly with inflation via the federal reserve. Then there is how the banking cartel portion of the federal reserve controls votes. There is no free market until the public is educated enough to vote for someone like Ron Paul so we can dismantle the federal reserve system.

I think everyone should have of copy of "The Creature from Jekyll Island" Although, since it is out of print (hmm), here the author lays it out nicely in this you tube series.

Ryan makes a good point. I spent 5 years in night school to get my degree, worked a full and part time job while in school. I did not get any grants just loans (repaid by the way). In short I busted my a$$ and paid my own way. I am in a much better place today (although just a small fry compared with most of the posters here). The point being, it makes me sick to see what I pay in taxes and where that money goes. "Spread the wealth", why don't we spread some ambition instead.
