I was a bit baffled when I read this article today, but it appears that Re/Max is going after a small, South Carolina real estate brokerage named Rehava for Trademark infringement.

In an article in the Charleston Post and Courier, RE/Max's legal counsel Adam Scoville explained the rationale this way:

First of all, both names start with "r" and have logos with accent lines near the letter "e," he said."It goes beyond that," Scoville added. "If you chop the top off of the â"h,' you (almost) have the â"m' in Re/Max. The next letter is an â"a,' and if you take the â"v' then you have half of an â"x.' "

I purchased Venture Realty in Las Vegas in 2000 after the previous broker died. I found some old signs which were red, white and blue. When I asked the family why they had been changed to some even uglier signs, they informed me that some big bully company came after them for trademark infringement.

They were a tough family - but the big bully had lots more money and attorneys.

I wonder if they will go after Obama for using red, white and blue?
