So anybody do any hunting this year?

I've only gotten a day and a half out in the field this year for deer and really didn't have a stand set up so it was more hiking with a rifle than hunting. I should have been squirrel hunting. There were a million of them and all I have was a .44 mag rifle.

Thinking of going to do some wingshooting this weekend before it gets too ridiculously cold.

Have you gotten any time in the field this year?

Had the worst waterfowl season I have ever been through by far, but I did manage to kill an 8 pointer with the rifle this year and we still have a month to hunt birds here in MN.

The ridiculous cold is your best friend when you hunt public land - keep sthe crowds home :-)

I can't begin to explain my envy. That is totally awesome. I have seen photos of your salmon runs up there and my hand has twitched at the thought of standing out in the middle of that with a fly rod. I can only imagine the hunting is equally awesome.

Been busy working on houses, but got out for two days. Saw 8 doe's. 3 of them came out as I was gutting one I shot. Never be in the woods without a gun!

The hunting here is great. The access is not all that great though. Takes some time and money to get to the good areas. Good fishing on the other hand is quite easy. Wouldn't live anywhere else.....

As far as Sarah Palin.....great for Alaska. I thought she did an excellent job as mayor and Gov. I'll leave it at that!

I've heard that about the access there. Some folks who've been to both places have told me it's cheaper to take half a dozen big game in Africa than to chase 1-3 species in Alaska. I'm sure it's beautiful once you get out there though. I have all 3 Dick Proenneke movies and can't stop watching them. Even got a sourdough culture growing in a jar in the fridge now...lol.

As to Sarah, 'nuff said. :-)
