I was looking at possibly putting in an IKEA kitchen (cabinets, appliances, counters, etc.) using one of their more generic designs. Does anyone here ever go the IKEA route for their flips?

Hi Mark, I have done many flips here in Montreal and I have always used the Ikea cabinets for two reasons, the strength added with the extras the shocks for the doors and drawers always adds that extra touch. You can get the counters elsewhere, you'll probably find a better deal.
IKEA cabinets have a very slick, European look to them. Make sure that will match the character of the rest of the house. Remember that kitchens and baths sell houses, but they have to fit into the character. Otherwise they'll look out of place and the mojo for the whole house will suffer from a Frankenstein effect and feel disjointed overall. If I were doing an urban/industrial flat, I would definitely use them. If I were working in a craftsman cottage, not so much.
We used to use the cabinets although I've seen the prices go way up over the past 2 years. At this point there are custom, quality choices available for the same cost and you wont have to assemble (pain in the arse). Additionally the metal drawers are a turn off to buyers.
Whats' cool though, their "farmhouse" sink for $299. Compares at $1000 bucks elsewhere and they are very trendy right now. You can easily modify the base cabinet from any other cabinet manufacturer to accept the Ikea farmhouse sink with a little cutting.
