34 units in Dallas on 10/07/2009, min bid $500k

and

174 units in Houston on 10/08/2009, min bid $1,5 million

Wow...$850k. That was not a good deal (my opinion).

I spotted this auction about a month ago and saw that the 34 unit apt was a few miles north of my office in NE Dallas (N of LBJ and Skillman). This area is know for high crime and non-family renters.

I drove the property and was not a buyer. $15k a door or less might have been a better number.

I'd think the seller was pleased they decided to go the auction route.
