have anyone gotten into the wholesaling university with than merril?if so please contact me or let me know the program was
I have been a member of Than's Wholesaling U for a few months. There is a lot of good information. I have gotten my business set up and am actively looking for my first deal. I will say that while there is a lot of information offerred by Wholesaling U, you can also find much of that information for free by spending time on BP and networking with other investors.
I went to a 'free' Than Merril seminar a couple months ago ... it had a lot of good teaser information about wholesaling but I left early when the huge upsale started ... like Christina said, you can find everything you need about wholesaling for FREE here at BP rather than waste your money at Wholesaling U. I suggest learning for FREE here and save your guru money for your own marketing to net your first profitable deal!
thank you very much,do any of you have mentors?christina what all did you get from than and his company?was it worht it at all?
I am a total newbie to real estate. So with that said, I was looking for a structured program to give me steps to start in this business. I did get that with Wholesaling U. Of course, you are offerred products to help get you started. And some of them are worth it. But as I have learned on BP and thru another investor here on BP some of the programs just charge you for information that is readily available for free. And I have found that you can get the same service elsewhere for much cheaper. All in all, I would have to say that yes, it was worth it for me. I will say that I didn't have to pay an upfront startup fee. Because I signed up at the very beginning of the Wholesaling U, he offerred it for just the monthly fee. I don't know if I would have done it if there was a start up fee. Anyway, I hope this gave you a little more info to go on. The best thing you can do is spend a lot of time on BP and network with other investors in your area. The networking is hard for me, as I am really shy in person. :-) I am trying to get over that. Good luck!
o arlight then it,i talked to that guy ben eastman bout a week ago he offered me the wholesaling u and their wholesale book i gues it is a well for 497 and 97 a month a month,i seen their ebook on ebay though so im goin to purchase it fromt their and get the wholesaling u,the area here where im located it has about 100,000 or so people and not many wholesalers at all, networking for me though comes quite easy,i do also think that you have to get over that it though.send me a message or email me so we can keep in touch, how far are you from phoenix and tuscon?
I am curious as to what you think of Wholesaling U once you get started. Let me know. I am about an hour from Phoenix. We are focusing our efforts on the east valley of Phoenix. Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, etc. Good luck.
yeah i will let you know definitely,i think you are in a good area to make some money from various strategies, have you gotten a mentor yet?good luck to you as well
I have been a member of WholesalingU since they opened the doors and it has been great!
There are 2 schools of thought when it comes to things like this.
1. Join WholesalingU (or other training program) and get all the information in one place and organized in easy to learn format and save a lot of time.
2. Use the power of this type of forum to get most of the same knowledge. But spend a lot more time doing it.
So it really is a Time vs Money issue and what your time is worth to you.
Me personally, I'm impatient so I want everything now and I also put a high value on my time. That is why I chose their program.
BUT, I also did a lot of research on them and followed them for a while before I did. And this is because so many other programs we have taken weren't worth a damn!
You will always find a better deal, a better program or another expert with more knowledge than the next.
The best thing you can do is find a forum like this were you can get input from others!
Just my $.02. Hope it helps.
Your a Real Estate Coach that is paying for a program through someone else? Seems kind of strange to come on and endorse someone's course on your first post. Just my opinion.
Jeff
But to give some credit where credit is due at least he's learning and teaching a lot of these so called gurus don't even know what they are teaching and never done any deals.
But than again I don't know the guy I think he needs to spend some time here on the board to gain some credibility.
Give him some credit where credit is due?
Did you do to his website on his tag line?
The first thing is this:
P.S. This event will be a TRUE NO PITCH event!!! Don't rely only on Facebook to do your Social Networking!!!
Sounds like to me that there will be a pitch because of what did not show up with copy and paste said that there will be products (I think it said available) to buy.
Something does not sound right with this first post!!!!!
If you are associated or related with the company???GURU involved please yust reveal that and tell us why your secret is better that anyone else's. Because if you are and dont want to reveal it, there are those here that will reveal it for you and your reputation will be shot.
If not, then you need to be careful with the way you posted. As others have pointed out it does sound very suspicious.
The best thing you can do is find a forum like this were you can get input from others!
Jeff
I'm the first to suspect nonsense, but I say lets give him a chance before we quarter him. I hope you'll participate here on BiggerPockets and perhaps share some tidbits from the vast wealth of knowledge you've learned from this program, Dan.
That would probably as good an endorsement as any that the program is as good as you say it it.
Typically when someone joins this site with a ringing endorsement of a guru, and fails to contribute any more, we tend to see through it.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Than came to speak at a local REIA here in Charlotte, NC a couple of weeks ago. The biggest thing that Than stresses (which I've learned from him) is marketing with multiple methods to keep the phone ringing with deals to pursue.
Those that can do....
Those that can't GURU......
Learn it, live it,
if they were good at Real Estate. They would be doing Real Estate.
I have to admit I am taken back by the "guru" haters on this site - it really is strong.
I have no idea if Than is a "guru" or not - I saw the other thread about guru VS teacher or mentor -
But Jeff you comment is just plain silly - there are lots of great teachers out there - and frankly lots of great teachers here.
Just because someone decides to teach doesn't mean they are a guru and it also doesn't meant they are not good at real estate - some people really just love to teach and some love to do both.
I have attended Than's 1 day seminar (think it was $50 - I have also attended many other of the teachers out there and even though I had been in the biz for 8 years when I went to Than's seminar I enjoyed it and I picked up a few tips / tricks and met a bunch of nice folks.
Scott as a former industry insider I have a view that you do not.
Enjoy the chum
most of the players in the info industry use the same consultants from Miami, they will design the speeches and powerpoints. These presentations will be chocked full of vague "tips" and lots of NLP.
The first point of sale is split with the person or entity that fills the room
that is why they upsell so much. That is where their ROI is made
I get it - we just see the world differently.
And I am never a fan of using sweeping generalizations as I would disagree that "everyone" does anything.
I am a fan of NLP and I have learned a lot from the "vague" tips at various seminars.
Back on topic for this thread:
In addition I have learned a lot at various seminars - Than's happens to be one of them - I found his 1 day to be very enjoyable and I learned somethings from it.
The sad part is, the best teachers, can not sell. The people who know nothing, sell their A$$ off......
90 percent of the "students" will never do a deal. They go there for the entertainment or the sense of doing something about their lives
