Please help me in choosing web hosting

Hi everyone,
I am sorry for possible offtopic, but I need your help in find new web hosting provider as soon as possible, because my current host (bluehost . com) is kicking me off, they say 'your account is using a lot server resources', but my website gets only about 200 visitors per day and my disk usage is 1500 MB (maybe they do not like that?)

Anyway, what would be your recommendations for getting reliable web hosting? Where are you hosting your websites? Are you happy with your providers?

I am now checking hosting24 . com - offer looks very nice, but is it real that they can provide unlimited disk space?
I have contacted them about this question and they say something that " These days 500GB disk drive costs only $30 per month, so if some day we will run out of disk space we will simply add new 500GB disk drive with almost zero costs and you can continue uploading without any problems" .

What do you think about it? Maybe things have changed in last 4 years? With my current provider I get only 2GB of disk space for $10 per month..
Any ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.

Could you ask Bluehost to quantify what they mean by 'a lot of server resources'? It could be you have a badly coded script running on the site, so those 200 visitors are hogging lots of processor or database time.

On the face of it, your site doesn't sound too demanding, so I'd try to find out what the problem is before jumping to a new host.

I know this post is kind of old but I use:

totalchoicehosting.com

They have been very solid with lots of flexible plans for the light to the heavy user.

I second 1and1.com. Cheap and charming and good for most stuff you need to do. If you need shell access be prepared to pay up for that. If you have a custom site with lots of functionality or want to develop other apps for your site you might very well need shell access. You can ask your web developer about it to find out.

I'll go with hostgator. You can also look into companies like hostmonster.com or mediatemple.net.

One thing you need to consider before transferring your domain is the following:

What do you need to accomplish with the new hosting company?
Cpanel? bandwith? is it windows on linux hosting? and so on...

One thing that jumped out at me is how are you able to take up 500GB of space? When it comes to website design, unless you have a lot of video/audio/multimedia on your site, you shouldn't really be able to use up that much space.

I think you need to look into how much bandwith they allow you to use on monthly basis. Also, what's their uptime? if it's anything below 98%-99% I wouldn't take them. It doesn't matter how good of a deal you het on your hosting if nobody can see it.

And since you are transferring site to another hosting company, ask if they'll help you transfer the site and how it is to do it on their servers.

You obviously have a script that is getting stuck and consuming too much CPU or MEMORY.

200 users a day could never clog down a server.. not even 200 users a minute in most cases.

I recommend Dreamhost , Godaddy and MediaTemple which I use all 3.

Every host has it ups and downs and there is no such thing as a perfect host.

I as sure that your blue-host-issue could have been sorted out with some effort.
