I know there are a few on here from the Chicago area, just thought it would be nice to have a place we could all claim our Windy City home albeit covered in the white cold stuff again.

Sebastian,

Well you know you don't need down payment money yourself to do a deal. You can borrow it, bring a money partner, etc.

You can even birddog and wholesale properties to help you build up some cash.

Just my two cents worth!!

I know, but last year had been really bad for me, and my credit got really screwed up. Next month I'm going over seas on a one year contract to rack up some cash, and maybe I'll start the real estate game when I come back, or when I get my leave. But I would like to start networking with Chicago investors, so I could learn a few things. Can you give me any tips?

Network with investors? Yeah get out to local clubs!

Try a few, and keep just showing up. You will learn by osmosis if you look for those that are actual investors at those clubs.

Some local ones here in chicago ( hint check my link in my sig block) allow you to atten your first general meeting without a charge. So what would ya have to lose?

I was born in the good'ol cook county hospital of Illinois.

Hey, I'm also going abroad for a one year contract. Going to japan as an english teacher in March and coming back the following March of 2009.

I will definitely have my heart set in Real Estate when I get back.
