Real Estate Association in SE Michigan

Hi, I am in Sterling Heights, MI and am looking to learn/network with a group of real estate folks. I heard of associations that one can join and was wondering if anyone is aware of such groups here in MI.
I bough my fist rental in June and renovated it and rented it. Maybe some remember it...bought for $15K, remodeled for $13K and rented for $800/mo.

Anyway, just wanted to get in touch with some of the people here in the area and see what options there are to join a investor group. Thanks.

Hi Nick,

I'm in Livonia. When I can, I go to the National Real Estate Network run by Mark Maupin. They meet every 3rd Thurs, often times in Livonia, but they can have meeting in Detroit too. There are many other smaller groups around here too. You should check out the link on BP:

Because of time constraints, I haven't been to a NREN meeting in a while. Much of the advice and networking I do comes from being on BP. I would like to meet some other local investors to share experience and knowledge with.

My partner and I are new to REI and we're in Canton and Ypsilanti. We're looking to join a few of the local clubs as well. We haven't made a purchase yet as we're still looking for a good Multifamily to begin with.

I know that there are also BNI groups.

If you google your county and put BNI, you should find one. These seem to have a high success rate for new business and customers. They meet weekly and rely on eachother for GOOD referral leads and marketing.

Each BNI group can only consist of one person per profession per group. For example, Mine is Broward County BNI and we have myself to represent the title company, one realtor, one real estate attorney, various contractors, etc... so you arent in there with your competitors.
