Have you ever thought about ways to make posting the signs LEGALLY, rather than breaking the law?

Investors already have a bad reputation.

You could try to locate a great property and ask the property owner their permission to post the sign on their property. Maybe buy them a Gift Certificate to a nice restaurant for the right to do this.

Placing it on a public way will get them removed and potentially you in trouble and your investments placed into harms way possibly. I mean, the police call, leave a message that sounds real, you call back, agree to meet, and they hit you with the fine.

I have never been a big fan of bandit signs myself. There are to many other solid and legal ways to market for high returns.

I do the majority of my investing in Virginia, but I do know that Baltimore City really cracked down on signs and was fining people.

I do know that PG county is safe because there are bandit signs everywhere.

I love bandit signs and they get results which is why people use them. I would talk to other investors in Baltimore and you could always put them out and see what happens. Usually the first time you will get a slap on the wrist. No big deal.

This might be too much of a time killer for most investors so I guess you can hire it out if you want.

I have contacted the owners of convenience stores that were on corner lots of busy intersections and said " Hey I'll mow or have your lawn mowed all summer long if you let me put one of my signs out there" you'd be amazed at the response.

You can do this for any property too.

You can always expand upon Brian's idea. If you are in a city offer to shovel/plow (or have it done) their parking lot, or offer to sweep it up, I know that convenience stores parking lots are often very dirty, and at least the ones around me you will see some kid sweeping it up early every morning. You could also take the easy route and just offer them " rent" for the space. You could offer a free slushie to anyone who you buy a property from :P

Convenience store owners are often strapped as that business has very razor thing margins, as such they are often very willing to allow a small sign if it brings in a little extra cash for them.

Do the same things with people who live on busy corners, everyone is looking for something for " free" and letting someone place a sign in their yard in return for something else of value to that individual is often an easy sell for you!

here's an outside the box kinda idea that goes along with small mom and pop stores

take one of your signs, cut off the phone number, take it inside the store and negotiate with the owner of the store to hang the sign up in the store where it can be noticed frequently

people will see " we buy houses" and question the clerk, the clerk then get's the information and sends it to you, if you close on the house pay them a referral fee
