I'd help you, but I don't have a CLUE as to what you're doing on cl. Selling, renting, buying, offering $1000 free? I'm sure others also don't see what you want. CL has been VERY good to me on buying, renting, and selling. I haven't offered the free $1000, but I'll bet that would go well also. Please explain. Rich.
Marlene, I'll take your $1000 a month if you tell me what you want. Just know that I'll outsource it to someone else for $200 a month and pocket the difference :)
Way to come out of the gate swinging for your first post LOL!! maybe your next post will tell us some more about yourself, what you do and how exactly you need some help with CL.
Might I suggest reading some of the blogs posted right here on BP that speak about CL, here a few of them in no particular order:
http://www.biggerpockets.com/renewsblog/2009/09/10/embed-youtube-videos-craigslist/
best of luck to ya, stick around, you might learn a thing or two.
$1,000 a month of marketing is plenty.
You can easily outsource it like what motiva8td said, or you can simply do it yourself. Since you are posting on Craiglist, I am assuming you are talking about the online approach to marketing?
First, Craiglist is only one of many free listing sites, although Craiglist is might powerful in driving leads.
Than, try to get a small website going with your contact info, business description, and etc. This shouldn't cost much, and you can even do it for free.
After you get a site going, trying put some of that $1,000 into PPC marketing for your site.
You can also do direct mail post cards, business cards, fliers and etc. This off-line marketing, and a bit-costy, but can boast pretty high conversion rates.
I offer marketing "advice" not service. If you want to know a bit more, feel free to PM me.
with a thousand dollars you need to come up with a few videos and place them on the internet. your videos can't be cheesy and you can hire someone to edit them for you.
properly crafted videos can bring droves in new business.
A great site for posting properties (and it's free for up to 5 posts) is www.postlets.com. You create professional looking ads that can be pasted to Craigslist.org, Backpage.com, etc. Postlets.com will also send your ads to their syndicated partners. You can do the same on Sawitonline.com. (It's also free for up to 5 posts.)
I think Craigslist is great (if you know what you're doing).
I'm not sure what you're doing on Craigslist either but I wholesale houses and among the 30 plus sites I post on they're my biggest hitter.
Hi Marlene,
I'm in agreement with the others $1000 is way too much. I have used Elance.com in the past to find many professionals that do great work from many professions including internet marketing. Im currently researching a provider that works for $2 hour from India. Which would add up to about $20 week or $80 a month. Take a look.
Karen,
Thats alot of sites to post wholesale deals on. I use craigslist also and it has helped me establish great relationships and get some deals done. Would you mind sharing the other sites you use?
Just google it, there are tons out there that will do it. You could also look into a virtual assistant that specializes in posting ads on craigslist.
Brian Haskins
Thanks Karen,
A few I know about but most I dont. This will really help me and other members.
Wow thanks for the list Karen! Also, I second Nick's suggestion that you read those CL blogs. Especially the one that he just wrote. Good stuff!
That is quite a list there Karen. Thanks!
I agree that CL is flooded and hard to get noticed...We are in the very early stateges of a concept of an online investor exchange..where birdogs, wholeslers, short sellers and investors could post their below market deals for other investors...this would not be too beneficial for someone looking for retail buyers..but we are of the opinion that a "investor exchange" could be helpful..sort of like a CL just for wholesale property..thoughts?

Great post Karen, really helpfull. You can alwayes post in your local newspaper classifieds, and low cost papers. Check out a few classifieds before posting. The key to advertising in print is consistency!
Steve I think that is an awesome idea. Keep everyone posted on the development. Maybe you can partner with Josh and make it a sister site of Bigger Pockets. Just thinking out loud. But great idea!!!
Gosh this is an easy one. Come up with your marketing requirements and hand it off to an offshore virtual assistant.
Don't know what I am talking about? Read the book Four Hour Work Week.
I have been thinking about hiring a virtual assistant for a while now. But I do have one question that I can't seem to find the answer to.
If they are working offshore, or anywhere else for that matter, how are you going to be keeping track of them and how many hours they actually work? I don't want to hire someone for 20 hours a week but in reality they are only working for an hour.
