Good commentary, Dave. As I said in the comments on the post, I think you nailed it when you said, "How do you get the guy next door, to keep paying his mortgage if his neighbor just got let off the hook for a $100,000 principle reduction?" I'm not sure that there is an answer . . . maybe they should have thought of that beforehand.
