The federal government is exploring how to put Florida hurricane evacuees in foreclosed homes if a Katrina-like storm devastates the region and shelters, hotels and other housing options are full, The Associated Press has learned.

No doubt! Several will not even pass FHA for loan approvals let alone safety.

Although the gov't might think on the one hand that this could be a good idea, on the other hand another gov't body - Code Enforcement - might tell them to think twice. Many of the foreclosed properties that I see have numerous violations that would pose some safety issues.
