Finding the Owner of a Property

by Joshua Dorkin on July 12, 2005

Ever wonder how to find out who owns a property?

Your county assessor’s office has that information, and its free! You can either visit their office, or check to see if there is a website for your county. Once there, just look up the address of the property in question, and you’ll be on your way to finding out ownership records.

To find more information, use Melissa Data’s FreeLookups tool on their site at http://www.melissadata.com/freelookups/house – this allows you to look up home values, crime stats and more – even traffic accidents – all by zip or city. It is a very cool tool that I use to find information and all for free.
