I operate a forum, and I have to purge a few of these spam emails every day. I even turned on verfication requirements upon signing up. That helped eliminate about 80% of it. But some of them are still posting. That tells me there's actually a person clicking the verification link and then logging in to post spam. Get a friggin' life, is what I say to these people. Here's a little insight I probably shouldn't share. Whenever I get one of these posts, I trace it back to the originating site and blast them with an angry email about how low they are. Not only is it obtrusive, but it can't produce the results they really want.
