Although previously we had only been focusing on rehabbing properties, we have added a number of private investors. We are wanting to now start adding some commercial property to our portfolio and this is a great tid-bit of info to use some of our resources to do this. We've used limited partnerships in the past, though someone (or some entity) must serve as the "General Partner" in a limited partnership, and therefore has unlimited liability. We have all of our holdings in LLC (limited liability companies) at this point as all members share liabliity protection in such a structure. If we needed a limited partnership for some reason today, we'd probably set it up with an LLC as the general partner so as to maximize the asset protection benefits.
