Make snow removal the tenant's responsibility by writting it into the lease. It's perfectly legal in NH.

Simple solution. I have one rental house in particular that seems to have a tendency of going vacant during the winter months. The rental property is located in Oakville, Ontario, which is just 20 minutes outside of Toronto. As much, we don't get tremendous amount of snow when compared to other places. However, I remember this one Winter where we had 3 heavy snow falls over a bout 6 days. So essentially, it was one snowfall every 2 days. The property was vacant, and showings were taking place at the property. Normally when the rental property is tenanted, the tenants do the snow removal. While there was no tenant in the home, I opted to do the snow removal myself. With one shovel in hand, I must have cleared 4 feet of snow over those 6 days. My back still hurts from that ordeal! My lesson learn was...get a snow-blower! :) .-= Neil Uttamsingh´s last blog ..When was the last time you got a personalized hand written note? =-.

Hi Brendan,

Nice post.

This brought back some memories for me. This is because snow conditions can vary greatly over just a couple of miles. They can look out their window and see an inch on the ground, while six inches have fallen on your property. Start your search by asking other local landlords (ask at your landlords’ association meeting).Brad’s last blog post: Just to say Hi

You should never, ever hire a snow removal contractor more than one town away.
