We have a email sign up form on the sidebar of our blog and it converts about 20% of the traffic to sign up. I can't tell you how many people have called us months after being to our site who are now ready to act. It is crucial.

I found that writing a good article helps me build a good database. Having topic related inquiry forms on that article inviting people to ask questions on the subject has helped me get in touch with more people than the opt-in.

Hi Lisa,

I;m not really sure what you are referring to here. Are you saying that my article implies the use of spamming or are you being sarcastic?

If it is the first, then I think you misunderstood my position. When I build my lists, people come to my site and they opt in through a double opt in process. That way, I know for sure that they want to subscribe because they need to verify their info before I can send them anything.

As for that sentence that I have under the opt in box, it is there for a reason. First, I don't sell or rent my lists (they need to know that) and second, it improves conversions.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Building an e-mail list can be done in a very positive way, as long as you include the ability to either request or to take themselves off the e-mail list.

This reduces the spamminess (is that even a word, haha) of an e-mail list.

Just when you thought spam on the internet couldn't get any worse, a term like real estate listing spam comes along. I'm sick and tired of such spam emails from realtors.
