Thanks Angel, I agree with you. Most deals are bid up by multiple offers. Many are speculators and will pay over asking price and do not do proper due diligence. You hit the nail on the head. California is still ultra competitive in getting a deal. Even as prices continue to fall, there are multiple offers on a property. If there is a deal to be had, you better believe that lots of people know about it.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was very impressed with PMI's research and reports. They insure mortgages so they have to be thorough and take into account all kinds of factors. Very useful information. I intend to write more on the topic of Where to Invest. Yes, the PMI tool is very useful. I intend to use it and I ‘m sure it’ll help me make better decisions.

The PMI U.S. Market Risk Index is a great tool – thanks for clueing us in to it. I’d love to know more about how they do their analysis.
