I’d never heard of the ‘landlord thermostats’ that would be a good thing to implement in my luxury apartments, because you are right; utilities are KILLING us!

These are very useful but you have to stay on top of the tenants to make sure they are not using unsafe space heaters, putting an ice block by the thermostat (sounds ridiculous, but somee do it), etc.

Of course space heaters can be perfectly safe if they are used correctly. Not near anything flammable, electric only, using electric cords that can handle the wattage, etc.

I don’t mind spending money but I hate wasting it. I REALLY hate someone else wasting MY money.
The landlord thermostats( HC7176 ) from landlordstat.com prevents tenants from opening the window because they are too hot. The heat can’t go any higher than 71F . You don’t have to program so it’s real simple. Very easy to install. It gives you peace of mind that no one is Wasting your money !

I also agree that greening up a place can save money but at the end of the day it really depends that how efficiently you have done the work.

Some money spent greening up the place can save tons too. You would be surprised how many old buildings can save tons of money with some new insulation, some new windows, and door sealings. That is a way to immediately start seeing results for not too much of an investment.
