For example, I currently use Grasshopper (formerly GotVMail) and I'm pretty content with features and price, but I could imagine Google not being far behind. What's so impressive about Google is that everything they start is just the tip of the iceberg of where they really want to go with it. While getting a bunch of separate accounts may not be against stated policy, it does seem to violate the spirit of the concept.
