The Midwest Florida IDX feed has over 90,000 records and you need to download that and process it daily to keep your database updated. You cant do that with a Godaddy account. It took my partner and I 3 months to come up with a solution that was a hybrid of Wordpress to create the application we have available which is the first and only one of it's kind but finally, real estate agents in Florida have access to Wordpress real estate websites with IDX that can be indexed... If you are web savy you know having an IDX that can be indexed in your domain creates more content than you ever could in your blog. Especially if your MLS feed is serving over 90,000 listings! As far as changing name servers... I find it much easier to just point the A record to an IP address.I am not commenting to promote my company so my link is just to an example of a new wordpress site with its own IDX we just completed for a client. But I do recommend that agents get rid of those old fashioned web 1.0 sites... CMS is the way of the future and a lot of the on page SEO is built in to these applications and if it is not, you can download a plugin for it.

WordPress websites are the way to go but some IDX feeds make them prohibitive and very expensive. All in all, it can take a novice hours to set up all components. I'd recommend taking a look at page.ly. http://page.ly It includes all of the above components in a 2 minute setup. Also, it includes nightly backups and auto updates the core of WordPress.I am a co-founder of Page.ly and I built it because I knew there had to be an easier and faster way to create a website.

Fantastico really made bare bones WordPress installs quick but you still have to find a domain name, hosting, plugins, themes, and database. Then contact hg support which is 24/7 and ask them to walk you through the install of wordpress. If you're having too much trouble, they may even install it for you. I have over 100 domains registered with gd and have always been very very happy with support. And hats off to hg for their awesome awesome support. I've tried other hosts and hg beats the rest hands down. They take care of issues pretty quickly with you on the phone or chat without having to submit a ticket. I hate tickets, because it always takes several days of emails back and forth with simple questions/answers to get something resolved. As a customer of hostgator, I am a walking commercial because they are sooooo good. I'll be happy to answer any questions if anyone is curious about them. I'm sure that is why Ryan stated up front about his not-so-unbiased recommendation. -Submitted from my iPhone

A much much easier way to have your nameservers pointed to your domain when registering with godaddy and hosting with hostgator is to call gd with the nameservers hg gave you and tell gd to make the change for you.
