Success Starts With the Right State of Mind

by |

There are so many things that go into creating a successful business. We usually begin with the external things such as organization and good systems. These things are certainly important for keeping your business on track. Scheduling tasks and actually doing them in a timely manner is also very important. And we all know that it’s critical to have concrete goals for success. But what about those “internal things?”

Your Mindset Is Critical

I believe there is one thing that you can’t succeed without; and that is the proper mindset.

Your mindset has everything to do with your success. If you are going through each day, checking off those lists but aren’t enjoying the process then something is wrong.

You have to get up every day and prepare your mind for success, just like you have to prepare your muscles to run a 5K race. So how do you do that?

Start at the beginning

There are some key things that go into setting yourself up for peak performance. Here are 5 tips to get you set for success:

1. Fuel your physical body first. Eat well, exercise and get enough sleep. Taking good care of your body is the first step. This is one thing that so many of us put off until tomorrow.

2. Stress can kill you, and it certainly messes with your mindset. Try to find a way to reduce stress in your life.

3. You have to work on having the right mindset each day just like you exercise. Begin by taking a few minutes each day and remember all that you are grateful for. Celebrate the good things and the small successes in your life. Have a success mantra that you recite every day. Get pumped up! It’s up to you to take control of your mindset.

4. Acknowledge the problems in your life and focus on solutions. Let’s face it everyone has problems to deal with. It’s how you choose to deal with them that matters and ultimately affects your mindset.

5. Organize each day the night before. While this is certainly good for your business, it will also allow you to schedule some fun or some downtime each day. That might be something as simple as taking time out to have lunch with a friend, or even playing “hooky” for a couple of hours to recharge. The point is that you can actually have more time for yourself if you plan your day in advance.

It’s up to you to create your success mindset; no one can do it for you. But if you get control of your daily life, you will find that your success mindset just automatically shows up for work each day.

  1. A nice way to enter into the holidays Sharon, especiallythe reminder about organizing the night before. I usually clear my desk and set the first tasks for tomorrow out at the end of the day, so I can get right to work on the most important items without distraction.

What usually differentiates those that “do” from those that “wish they could” is these simple tasks. Thanks for the succinct reminders.

I have found this one thing to have enormous benefits, and it sounds like you have too.

Just sitting down at your desk in the morning and being all set to dive right in to your list, gets you moving on what is most important. It also gets rid of the temptation to check email the first thing, and then look up and realize an hour is gone.

  2. Yes, little things make all the difference. Like you said, planning your next day before going to bed is a biggie. Just figuring out a tiny step you could take towards your goal could make all the difference.

That reminds me, is anyone going to prompt us to review the goals we started off with this year. It won’t be me who brings up the topic :^)
