How to Create a Google Plus Page for your Real Estate Business

If there was an awesomely powerful creation that dominated the lower minions, Google would be the Megatron of the internet.

If you’re fairly new to social media, Google plus might sound like one of those newer trends that you don’t really think you need to add to your plate. However, when you make a Google plus page, you’re really creating broad opportunities throughout Googles reach. This in turn is going to help rank you higher in Googles search engine. Not to mention, people will be able to map your business’ location with directions just by looking up your company’s name. These are huge benefit for any business owner, especially if you are budding or growing real estate professional.

Creating a Google Plus Page

shadow_image_102138To begin, you’ll need to have a personal profile in Google. Just by having a gmail address, you can create a G+ profile.

From your personal profile, click on “pages” in the left hand menu, to start.

Next, you’ll need to decide what category you want to use to showcase your business. If you don’t have people come to your office, you may not want to list an address. If you do have a retail place of business, you’ll probably choose “local business or store.” You can assist Google by entering the phone number of your business, confirm it’s correct, and have the location confirmed on the map as well. You’ll also want to enter in the link to your website and agree on the terms and conditions if you care to. After that, you will have a Google Plus page!

Very much like the last post, How to Create a Facebook Page for your Real Estate business, you’ll now want to fill in the information on your G+ page. If you want to take the easy route, you very well could copy and paste the info from your Facebook page into the description of the G+ page.

Similarly, you’ll also need to add a profile picture (usually your logo). I highly recommend using the same profile picture across your social media platforms, to create more recognition. Be slow to change your profile picture, as your audience needs to be able to remember you in an ocean of images.

From my first post about Using Social Media to Grow your Real Estate Business, you’ll need to make your two dimensional page as sensory as possible. One way to accomplish this is by using appealing images. This could include your cover photo, and posts of interesting things that are happening in your own business. Keep your posts interesting, and they don’t always have to be related to your business. The most important thing is to post consistently, using appealing imagery, with information that’s insightful, useful, humorous, or uplifting.

Badge of Honor

Just as important as taking the time to create a vibrant G+ page, is making sure you get the link to your Google Plus page to create a badge to add to your website(s). You will want to share your content, invite followers, and engage with others. As you engage with others, and stay consistent with your posts, you’ll find your online reputation grows as well.   2. Great Article Tracy!
    Google Plus has changed the game definately. I will say that my Google plus is not set up for business but i do get very little interaction on it. Several months ago I had someone link my Google Plus and my website together. As a result My Image pops up in the Google Search result which results in more visitors to my website. If anyone wants to connect just click on my website where my name is highlighted. My Google Plus image is to the right!

    • Hi Gerald, it’s pretty cool what Google can do, isn’t it? If you don’t have the time to post on Google+, you might think about hiring a VA (virtual assistant) or someone on to help you. Inexpensive and takes it off your plate.

      • Hiring a virtual assistant is a great idea for taking care of some of these small online marketing details, Tracy. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with all the little pieces and connections related to online marketing. It’s a good reminder that I don’t necessarily have to do it all myself personally. Outsource!

        • Hi Jaz, I’d give it a whirl yourself for awhile, as other people can’t replace the “voice” of your business. I’d use a VA to help share articles, videos, blogs, get more followers, etc, but be sure the content has your special touch.

  3. Google+ provided many benefits to building organic search rankings and Google keeps rolling out enhancements. For example, Google is now promoting its Google360 ( ) service which are business photos that give 360 degree view. Imagine having a 360 degree view of your rental properties available on your website. It makes for a more dynamic and sticky experience for your website visitors. Social media mgmt. can become overwhelming for some business owners who are too busy with their core business so outsourcing makes sense as Tracy and Jaz mentioned earlier. IT doesn’t have to cost a lot. For example, my team is helping businesses manage their Google+, Facebook, Twitter, etc. pages for as little as $10 per day with fresh engaging content, posts, blogs and ensuring proper syndication. It makes financial sense for a lot of business owners to partner with a professional team who is expert at it.
