Great topic and great advice. As a complete introvert who can fake extroversion on occasion, this was great.

I like the whole discussion of competence. Competence does indeed invoke more self confidence which helps you to fake the extroversion. I also am an expert at conflict avoidance. I’ll take a conflict to email or text very quickly rather than having to deal with it in person or over the phone (which can make me shake and panic).

I have a friend who is terribly introverted who is a college professor. Yep, she has to stand up in front of people and try to teach them every day. She says she wears her “professor mask” and she hides behind it and put for The Professor as a character in order to get through the introversion and it makes her very successful at her career.

    Thanks Brandon!

So true! I’m a closet introvert as well. I’ve always had to be an extrovert for many of my roles, and to @LindaWeygant’s point – knowing my strengths (and weaknesses) help guide me through those discussions for sure.
