And as<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> real estate investors, those policies can make or break our investments\u2014or even our careers.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So, how might the two candidates\u2019 economic and housing agendas impact us as investors?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Since I know you\u2019re wondering about my own \u201cagenda\u201d and what \u201cspin\u201d I\u2019m putting on this article, I\u2019ll tell you right now that I dislike both candidates and will be unhappy no matter who wins in November. Consider me an equal-opportunity hater.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I don\u2019t have a horse in this race<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2014but<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> I <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">do<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> want to prepare my portfolio for the headwinds <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">that<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> I see each candidate bringing if they win.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> The thing is, those headwinds are <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">completely<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> different for each candidate.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Except for one, that is. But we\u2019re getting ahead of ourselves.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Here are the real estate-related risks I see from each of the two major candidates and how you might protect your portfolio from each.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Financial Risks from Trump\u2019s Policies<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Trump\u2019s economic policies might seem disparate, but they all have one thing in common: They\u2019re inflationary.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You don\u2019t have to be an economist to understand that when you impose tariffs on imports, those goods (and everything manufactured from those components) cost more for the American consumer. And <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.investing.com\/news\/stock-market-news\/the-potential-economic-implications-of-trumps-proposed-trade-tariffs-3553480\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Trump loves his tariffs<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. He\u2019s proposed a 60% blanket tariff on all imports from China and a 10% standing tariff on imports from everywhere else.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Then there are his <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-economy-tariffs-project-2025-biden-b7fb80fd689ed773da83c80e52559b4f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">proposed tax cuts<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, which, by their very nature, are designed to stimulate the economy<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. And<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> often, the economy does need <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">stimulating<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But do you know what happens when you <\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">overstimulate <\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the economy? <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Inflation<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">which<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> is something we\u2019re now all too familiar with, given the over-stimulus of the economy back in 2020-2021.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> And it\u2019s something Jerome Powell and the Federal Reserve have spent the last two years battling.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Of course, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/02\/02\/economy\/trump-reappoint-fed-chair-jerome-powell\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Donald Trump doesn\u2019t like Jerome Powell<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He doesn\u2019t like the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">very<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> idea of an independent Federal Reserve and has argued that it\u2019s within his power as president to fire Fed chairs and install his <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">own<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> crony\u2014one <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">who<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> he can then <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/08\/02\/trump-promises-lower-interest-rates-fed-chair-powell-responds.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">order to lower interest rates<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Don\u2019t get me wrong:<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> There\u2019s a time and a place for tariffs, tax cuts, and low interest rates. But they all come with inflation risk, and I <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">personally<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> have little trust in Trump\u2019s discretion for not overheating the economy.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Reducing inflation risk under a second Trump presidency<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Facing higher inflation risk,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> investors can find shelter in real estate equity, precious metals, and stocks.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Watch out for fixed-interest debt investments like notes and bonds once interest rates drop again.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For real estate investments,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> it also doesn\u2019t hurt that Trump would almost certainly lobby Congress to extend <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/blog\/bonus-depreciation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">bonus depreciation<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> That featured prominently in his signature legislation from the last time around, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">People tend to pay the going rate for real estate, regardless of the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">value of currency<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As for stocks, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">it turns out that<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> they <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.morningstar.com\/financial-advisors\/are-stocks-good-hedge-against-inflation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">actually<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> hedge against inflation<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> pretty well.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">There\u2019s<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> another asset class poised to do well under a second Trump presidency<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: cryptocurrency<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> I don\u2019t want to go down the crypto rabbit hole\u2014I consider it speculation, not investing\u2014but Trump\u2019s sudden <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-cryptocurrency-campaign-nashville\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">coziness with the crypto industry<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> has proven one of the surprises of this campaign season.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Financial Risks from Harris\u2019 Policies<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For real estate investors, the financial risks from Kamala Harris\u2019 policies come from <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">two directions: higher taxes and higher<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> regulation.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On the regulatory side, Harris has a long history of protectionist policies for renters. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">She has <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/nlihc.org\/resource\/senator-harris-calls-housing-fundamental-human-right-forum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">called housing a human right<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> and as a U.S. senator, proposed the <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/115th-congress\/senate-bill\/3250\/all-actions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rent Relief Act<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of 2018 <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">that<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> would subsidize renters who spend more than 30% of their income on housing. (As a renter myself, that sounds like an invitation to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">go<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> spend more on rent and enjoy some free subsidies, but I digress.)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">More recently, the Biden-Harris White House proposed a <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/blog\/biden-proposes-rent-increase-caps-at-five-percent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">nationwide 5% rent stabilization law<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. The administration also funded an extra $5.5 billion initiative at <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2024\/05\/07\/fact-sheet-vice-president-harris-announces-5-5-billion-to-boost-affordable-housing-invest-in-economic-growth-build-wealth-and-address-homelessness-in-communities-throughout-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">HUD to prioritize affordable housing regulations<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In short, expect a Harris presidency to come in hot with housing regulation on <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/blog\/finding-multifamily-properties\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">multifamily<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> investors.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Harris has also consistently called for higher taxes on businesses and successful individuals. In her 2020 presidential campaign, she called for <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.morningstar.com\/news\/marketwatch\/20240730160\/kamala-harris-just-answered-one-big-tax-policy-question-but-voters-still-need-answers-on-many-others\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">raising the corporate tax rate<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> from 21% to 35%.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">She has also called for raising the top individual income tax rate to 39.6%. Additionally, she proposed a <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2019\/07\/30\/746805856\/the-democratic-debate-over-medicare-for-all-and-middle-class-taxes-explained\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">new blanket 4% tax<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> on all families earning more than $100,000. Oh, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> raising the Medicare tax from <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2023\/03\/07\/fact-sheet-the-presidents-budget-extending-medicare-solvency-by-25-years-or-more-strengthening-medicare-and-lowering-health-care-costs\/)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">3.8% to 5%<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> for higher-earning taxpayers.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Relevant to real estate investors, the Biden-Harris administration called for more than doubling the <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kiplinger.com\/taxes\/biden-calls-for-doubling-capital-gains-tax-rate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">capital gains tax rate, up to 44.6%<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Yikes.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The administration has also called for <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.1031crowdfunding.com\/bidens-proposed-2025-budget-1031-exchanges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">eliminating the 1031 exchange<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Reducing regulation risk under a Harris presidency<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Let\u2019s start easy by avoiding all the housing regulations <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">that Vice<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> President Harris wants to add: <\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Just<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> don\u2019t invest in residential rental real estate.<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In particular, watch out for multifamily. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Multifamily<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> real estate <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/blog\/ultimate-guide-to-real-estate-syndication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">syndications<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> will find themselves in her crosshairs <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">if she wins the election<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Smaller landlords with a few units would likely avoid the worst of the regulation blitz.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Know what types of real estate won\u2019t fall under her regulatory crusade? Everything else. <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Industrial, retail, office, raw land, agricultural, short-term rentals<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u2014they should all be safe<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In SparkRental\u2019s Co-Investing Club, we\u2019ve intentionally started <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/blog\/why-were-de-emphasizing-multifamily-properties\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">de-emphasizing multifamily<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. We\u2019ve been forming more private partnerships for <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/guides\/how-to-flip-houses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">house <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">flips<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, spec home construction, and land flips. We\u2019ve also <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">started<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> looking to diversify as much as possible, although we still look at plenty of multifamily deals when we meet <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">each month<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to vet investments together.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Reducing tax risk under a Harris presidency<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Avoiding higher tax liability is a tougher nut to crack. You can invest through a <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/blog\/self-directed-ira\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">self-directed IRA<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> or solo 401(k) to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">either<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> avoid taxes now or let your investments compound tax-free with a Roth account.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">That said, retirement accounts may not be safe from a Harris administration. The Biden-Harris White House has proposed <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.napa-net.org\/news-info\/daily-news\/biden%E2%80%99s-fy-2025-budget-targets-back-door-roths-excess-retirement-accumulations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">reducing retirement account protections<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> for higher earners.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You can\u2019t count on 100% bonus depreciation <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">being extended<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, either. Even so, I expect the \u201c<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/blog\/lazy-1031-exchange\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">lazy 1031 exchange<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201d to <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">keep working<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> well for passive real estate investors like myself. These get even easier when you invest $5,000 at a time, like we do in our Co-Investing Club, instead of the typical $50,000 to $100,000 if you invest in real estate by yourself.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In short, the tax landscape could shift dramatically. Stay on top of tax changes, and set aside some time to sit down with your tax advisor to adjust your tax plan.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">When in doubt, you can always <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/blog\/how-living-overseas-made-me-a-better-investor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">move overseas like I did<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, to take advantage of the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">foreign earned<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> income exclusion!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Financial Risk from Both Candidates: Record Spending<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Now that I\u2019ve infuriated every <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">single<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> reader by critiquing their candidate\u2019s policies let\u2019s take it a step further: Whether Trump or Harris wins, I expect record federal spending.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kamala Harris has always supported higher spending and <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">higher taxes<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, as I\u2019ve touched on<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> And Trump? <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> federal government added <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crfb.org\/blogs\/how-much-did-president-trump-add-debt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">$7.8 trillion of debt<\/span><\/a> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">under his first administration<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and his executive actions and signed legislation are expected to cost $8.4 trillion over the next 10 years.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So, no matter who wins in November, I expect the federal budget and deficit to keep ballooning.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To me,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> that suggests higher taxes and inflation in the long term: higher taxes to pay a higher debt bill and higher inflation as the government prints more money to reduce the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">real<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> value of existing debt by inflating it away.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">With<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> or without a major <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biggerpockets.com\/blog\/what-would-happen-to-real-estate-if-a-major-war-started\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">geopolitical crisis in the next decade<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, I believe that higher taxes and inflation are coming<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Final Thoughts<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On one hand, <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I believe that<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> people get too emotionally charged in elections.<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Do you know<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> what\u2019s more important than who sits in the Oval Office? Your <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">personal<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> relationships\u2014which many Americans are wrecking with their political intolerance of anyone who doesn\u2019t stand in the same echo chamber as them.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On the other, presidents do create policies that affect our lives.
