Marketing update - New CRAZY technique

As I plug away at all my mailings (See previous posts for those details) as well as other things that I have talked about in the past I have been doing a CRAZY new strategy that I saw on a YouTube clip recently.

The guy on it was talking about taking those postage paid envelopes you get from various places (Mostly Credit Card offers in my experience) and putting marketing materials in them. The hope being that the person opening the letter might have or know someone that might be interested.

Here is the pack that I was sending:

Small 1384555759 Crazy Mailing

Just to be clear there is a business card (I have 2 there to show front and back), a business card magnet, a sticker, a rack card and a brochure (2 in the picture to show the front and the inside).

BTW similar to the apparently horrible postcard I have, these are mostly materials that I got for free and have THOUSANDS of them so there is really no cost to do this.

Total carpet bombing but pretty easy and as I said no cost (unlike the postcards where I do at least need to pay for the stamps and labels).

Anyone else doing something like this????

  1. Well, that is the most random yet intriguing marketing tactic I have heard of in a minute. I think I might give it a try. I wonder if the companies will have anything to say about it.

    1. Yeah it was about the oddest thing I had heard of! I can't imagine that even if the companies knew it happened it would be worth the effort to do anything about it. My guess is since this all goes to people processing the stuff that pretty much all of it will get a "WTF is this?" and then gets thrown in (hopefully) the recycling. Maybe if 1 in 10,000 actually hold onto to it I'd be impressed. Not any heavy lifting though...

  2. Well I'll be pretty stocked if I actually get a call off of this and amazed if I get a usable one. Still can't be much worse than the mail campaign so far though. :)

  3. I can't wait to read the first comment you post about the first call :-)
