Marketing Update - Holiday Dilemma

With Thanksgiving less than a week away and then the various winter holidays coming up I am trying to decide how to proceed in the near term.

I'm not contemplating stopping my marketing efforts, but I am trying to figure out the timing.

My next batch of postcards will likely be ready to go out on Tuesday. Slight chance of some getting delivered on Wednesday if I get them to the Post Office early morning. More likely they will start arriving on Black Friday and on that Sat.

This SEEMS like a terrible time to be hitting people as people will be totally focused on other things.

My inclination would be to wait until the following week to drop them so they will be out of that mode and not quite into full swing for the next ones.

After that how vigorous should I be the rest of 2013? I would feel the same way about sending stuff right at Christmas or New Years the way they fall this year and would probably take a mail hiatus. My inclination would be not to drop anything from say 12/18/13 until 1/2/14 to avoid just getting totally lost in the shuffle.

What do you guys think? Anyone been mailing long enough to have a feel for the right approach is at the holidays?

FYI I wouldn't slow down any of the other things I am doing, all of which is basically free. I just am trying to not throw away money on mailings that will have less chance of getting looked at then normal.
