MHP out of state site visit

This site visit begins on a Thursday and ends on Sunday. I could have ended it earlier, heading back Friday night, but I do my site visits with one of my kids and it is a good time to teach them about the park business and get them involved. There is not business class at any level that holds a candle to real on the job training. When your just investing your one Washington's, the lesson is all the better.

So we head out of DIA at 3pm, heading east 2 time zones to Indiana. Land at 7:30pm, jump into a rental car, head north east an hour and we drove right to the park. I like to do a night walk through, and the weather was good. So we drove to the center of the park and walked all the streets. It was about 9pm so even in Indiana it was dark already. If this were the summer, I would have to wait another hour for the cover of darkness. At night I am looking for light on in homes that are supposed to be vacant, lots of traffic in and out of the park, anything out of place. This is a great time to listen, water leaks maybe, crackling noises, lots of voices, or maybe your spotted, and light get shut of and the home gets really still.

If I had anything to remember, I carry a small digital voice recorder and would make notes. These will be transcribed later, after my visit and then the manager get a copy of my observations and from that, makes action items to be taken care of prior to my next visit.

The park is quiet, fresh mowed as managers do when you have announced your visit. No strange noises, no stray animals... nothing to report.

Back to the car, 15 minutes and we are pulling up to dinner. A burger and fries, 25 minutes later heading to the hotel. After the check in, powering all the electronics, checking 15 of our updates, bed. It is 11 pm Indiana time- just 9 pm back home. Alarm is set- first meeting at 8 am so up at 6:30 to shower, eat and make the meeting.
