Phone Calls and Patience

At this stage of the game it feels more like I should invest in a phone company...

Title company "seller says that we're mistaken, they didn't agree to the mortgage."

Me (inside, OH S*%$)... outside "well, that's a little unexpected, let me call someone and see what's going on"

Seller - "maybe you should call my daughter."

Me "no worries", call daughter

Daughter "we're ok with the seller financing but you need to have your lawyer provide the mortgage"

Me "Hmmm, well, that's what we originally had but your addendum changed it to seller will provide.  We are happy to provide but might need to clarify agreement."

Daughter "no, the contract says you will provide, but it might be a little unclear, do you have a copy handy?"

Me - reading from contract "Seller will at seller's expense, provide a mortgage under the following terms..."

Daughter "oops, that must be typo, that's not really what we meant"

Well, good, at least I haven't lost my mind.  This is turning into the textbook case of a sale that is happening through relationship building and patience. It's now May and we first approached the buyer in February.

  1. Ha! It must have at least felt good to show the daughter that!
